Renamer

With this tool, you can rename a list of selected files in the Basket.

On the screen below you can see Renamer window:

To rename files you must send them into the Basket and select files. You can send files into the Basket from Browser or Finder.
The new names are immediately shown in the preview rename pane, but the files are not renamed until you press the Start Rename button.

Renamer settings are described in the table below:

Field Description
Name In this group, you can create a definition for a new file name.
Extension In this group, you can create a definition for a new file extension.
Define counter [C] Allows to define the counter for the [C] field(s).
   Start at Number of the first file. The files are always numbered the same way as they are shown in the result list. You can sort the result list by [Old name] or [Old ext].
   Step by The counter is increased by this value.
   Digits Width of the counter field. If digits are >1, the rename tool will insert leading zeros to get a fixed width number field.
Upper/lowercase This group allows to convert the whole string to uppercase or lowercase.


The buttons allow to insert place holders for the file name or extension. Place holders are always in brackets [ ]. All available placeholders are described in the table below:

Place holder Description
[N] Inserts old file name, WITHOUT extension.
[N2,5] Inserts 5 characters starting at character 2 of old file name.
[E] Inserts old file extension, WITHOUT file name.
[E1,3] Inserts 3 characters starting at character 1 of old file extension.
[C] Inserts counter, as defined in Define counter field.
[d] Inserts last modified date as defined in current country settings.
[D] Inserts day of last modified date.
[M] Inserts month of last modified date.
[Y] Inserts year of last modified date.
[t] Inserts time, as defined in current country settings.
[h] Inserts hours of time.
[m] Inserts minutes of time.
[s] Inserts seconds of time.
